Whichaway is where our story began — a pioneering outpost born from curiosity, ambition, and the quiet thrill of stepping into the unknown. When our Founder first crossed this remote landscape, he became a little lost and wondered 'which-a-way' to go next, and so the name endured.
Set within one of Antarctica’s rare ice-free oases — a distinction shared by less than 3% of the Continent — Whichaway reveals a side of Antarctica few imagine. Here, glacial ice meets exposed rock and rises above a chain of more than a hundred pristine freshwater lakes.
Opened in 2005 on the site of a former East German science base, the camp blends contemporary design with a legacy of research and discovery. Six state-of-the-art pods sit lightly on the rocky terrain. Each suite features a private en-suite bathroom and shower, while large glass conservatories frame uninterrupted views of the surrounding glacier — providing warmth and an understated elegance that invites guests to slow down.
Despite its extreme setting, Whichaway carries an air of refined escapism; the kind of hideout where you could imagine James Bond taking a holiday.
