A message to all our guests
Over the last months, we have been working hard to create new procedures to ensure our guests and staff avoid contracting Covid-19 and the virus stays out of Antarctica.
Although this work has been very successful, there is still a lot of uncertainty over the impact of the virus on travel, such as border closures, the requirement for quarantine periods and the availability of visas. Our gateway to Antarctica, namely Cape Town International Airport, is still closed and we have not had any further news from the government as to when it will open.
This continued uncertainty means that we cannot begin mobilising our resources for the coming season. The net result of all this is that we have taken the difficult decision to postpone some of our tourist itineraries from the 2020-21 season to the 2021-22 season. Although we will be operating a reduced logistics programme for scientific research stations and in support of some Antarctic expeditions, we will be postponing other trips on a trip-by-trip basis and will communicate this directly to each effected client.
We very much regret the inconvenience this may cause them, but our priority has to be keeping guests and staff safe and ensuring Antarctica remains free of Covid-19.
Thank you for your ongoing support for White Desert.
All the best,
