A message to all our guests
Towards the end of last year we took the difficult decision to postpone our 2020-21 tourist trips to the 2021-22 season in order to protect our guests and our staff and to help keep Covid out of Antarctica. Instead we focused our efforts on maintaining and upgrading our accommodation and runway in Antarctica and on preparing ourselves for what we expect will be our biggest season ever. Each guest affected by the postponements has been offered a suitable alternative itinerary over the next two years and many of our trips during the 2021/22 season are now booked out.
Our gateway to Antarctica, Cape Town International Airport, is open and we remain positive about South Africa’s tourism prospects. Of course, many of our guests and industry partners will have questions over travel and logistics and we will be updating them as we get closer to the start of the season in November, including on requirements for testing and vaccinations. If Covid continues to impact their travel plans, our postponement policies are generous and are designed to to offer as much flexibility as possible in responding to the pandemic.
Thank you for your ongoing support for White Desert.
All the best,
